I was surprised to stumble across a group of Barack Obama supporters in London yesterday, as were all the tourists at the Thames Festival. Turns out the Democrats, all currently living in London, are determined to see Obama in the White House come January, and so are spending much of the next couple of months campaigning across the city.
Might seem a bit odd campaigning in London, as we can’t vote for Obama, as much as we might like to. However there are apparently 200,000 US citizens living in London and these volunteers are going all out to get them all registered to vote in the November election. After all it looks like the result is going to close and it could all come down to overseas voters.
Personally after McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running mate I hope they double their efforts. The idea that she could be a heartbeat from the US Presidency is frankly pretty scary!!
